Picture this. There’s a band you love, and you feel like you know everything about it. Wouldn’t you want to share it? Well, the Tumblr blog One Week // One Band allows people to do just that. Every week a writer chooses a band that they feel passionately about, and writes a series of posts all about it. The brainchild of editor Hendrik Jasnoch, this site features a varied selection of artists, from Coldplay to Bob Dylan to Sparks, as there are no restrictions on genre or decade. Usually there are five songs posted from Monday to Friday, supplemented with opinions, videos, and reasons why the writer likes that band. The aim is to introduce people to music they might not have necessarily heard or appreciated before, and to start a discussion about music that we like, and why we like it. The writers vary as much as the musicians, as they can be a professional journalist who has written for The Guardian or The New York Times, or they can simply be a person with a Tumblr account who loves music and writing.
