We’ve been waiting for Don’t Wait For Me, the third EP from Racing Glaciers, for quite a while now. Having simply loved their previous releases, we had high hopes for this one. Their self-titled first EP, released in 2012, was supposed to be a one-off, but thankfully the group reunited to create Ahead Of You Forever earlier this year. After the release of free single VHS, we were excited to hear how Racing Glaciers had developed their sound.

So did Don’t Wait For Me live up to expectations? Definitely. We reckon that this is their strongest collection of songs to date. The EP begins with new single Animal, and the song begins softly and builds in intensity, with the lyrics really showing off the gorgeous vocals of lead singer Tim Monaghan. Don’t Wait For Me is slightly more slowly paced, with a melodic chorus and screeching electric guitar solo. We had heard First Light already, as it was released a few months ago. However, it fits right in to this EP, with its bold horn and catchy hooks. Finally, though Carry It On has a more laid-back sound than the other songs, it still brings the EP to a resounding end.

So the next question on our lips is; when is the album coming out? Racing Glaciers have been going from strength to strength recently, with many festival performances and a growing fanbase. We believe that their signature sound is strong enough to make an impact in the charts, and we can’t wait to see what they can achieve.

Racing Glaciers

Indie-pop five-piece Racing Glaciers have really been exciting us over the past few months. We first discovered them supporting Dan Croll in Glasgow, and fell in love with their uplifting vocals and anthemic sound. Since then we have been on the lookout for new material from them. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for very long, as Racing Glacier’s latest single First Light was released in May. It’s a taster from the upcoming EP, Don’t Wait For Me, which will be released this summer.

First Light was, for us, one of those songs which is simply love at first play. With captivating trumpet, rocky guitar and heartfelt lyrics of trying to make a failing relationship work, this single perfectly captures Racing Glacier’s sound and packages it up in an attempt to try and crack the charts. Coupled with a mesmerising video, we think that this is the first step towards success for the group.

Racing Glacier’s first two EPs, Racing Glaciers and Ahead Of You Forever, were good. We believe that Don’t Wait For Me will be even better. Too often upcoming bands show promise with their early material, and then deteriorate with time. This is certainly not the case with Racing Glaciers – they have gone from strength to strength with each new release. Whatever the future holds for them – whether it is a complete album or perhaps even mainstream success – we are sure that it is bright.
